The Progressive Institute for Ministry is the continuation of a Bible class that began in the early 1950’s. At that time it was held in the homes of the participating men who met weekly to study the Bible and was called the Progressive Bible class.

In 1966 this class was established at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Boston when the teacher, Rev. Parnell Baxter became the Pastor of the church. In 2004 the name was officially changed to the Progressive Institute for Ministry by its present instructor, Pastor George Bullock, Sr., who became the teacher of the class in 1972.

The present name reflects the focus from it being only a weekly Bible study to that of an in-depth concentration of the work of ministry. Students have the opportunity to examine and discuss the Biblical requirements for the work of the ministry. From this, a better understanding is gained toward their personal calling and commitment.

The goal of the Institute is to equip the participants to engage in work to whatever ministry he/she may have been called. Classes are held on Monday's at 7:00 p.m.  All are welcomed.
